Optional Items for Your College Dorm

If you are in college you will know that your dorm room is your home away from home. While it may never have all the niceties of your parents place, there are some items you might want to have to make your stay a little easier. Granted none of these items are necessities and some dorms have restrictions on what you can and can't have, but some of these things are pretty handy to have around.

A refrigerator can be very useful. No, not the huge Kenmore that your parents have, just buy a small dorm room fridge that fits nicely under your desk. That way you can keep a stash of burritos and TV dinners for those late night cravings. It is also great for storing those left overs you took home from Chili's.

If you have a fridge to keep food cold you will naturally need a microwave to warm it back up. It's 1 A.M., you are only half way through that term paper that is due tomorrow morning and you need to refuel. Pop the fridge open, grab a TV dinner and cook away. Use it to make some popcorn and you might be the most popular person on your floor.

Unless you have night vision goggles then you will need light to see, and that mean you need a lamp. It's true that most dorms have overhead lighting but if your roomie is asleep, he (or she) may not want the bright overheads on, which makes a lamp the perfect light to see by. At the very least get a reading light to clip onto your bed or desk.

We said early none of these things are necessities but there is one item that might very well be and that is a coffee pot. If you are fortunate enough not to be addicted to coffee skip this part, but for the rest of us, this be can crucial to survival. You don't really have time to run to the café every morning anyways and it will save you money in the end.

Lastly you may want to consider an iron. You probably hate ironing and it is true most of your clothes will be free T-shirts, but at times you may need to dress up. What if you go to a dance or have a job interview? You will want to look your best. For an ironing board just buy one of those small portable ones. Finally, don't forget a laundry basket, unless you want to carry a cardboard box around.

Aiden Jefferson lives, works and breathes in sunny Southern California. Don't try to find him though, he is well hidden and sneaky. He writes (usually) about life, college, cars, pop culture and loves to mix them all together when he can get away with it. That being said, you can skip the whole dorm room experience by attending a miltary university or a army college.

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD/ADHD) and Avoiding the Problem of Medicating a Developing Brain

Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) appeared first in the 1980 Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the American Psychological Association. Today ADD means different things to different professionals, depending upon their field, their level of experience and medical knowledge, and their cultural beliefs about how children should act.

Parents are often surprised to learn that there is no particular medical or neurological abnormality present in individuals diagnosed with attention deficit. Instead, the diagnosis depends upon subjective assessments by parents, teachers, or professionals with little or no understanding of the neuroscience of learning and behavior.

In fact, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) issued a consensus statement in 1999 warning that the causes and treatments of ADD are only speculative. In a very real sense, the diagnosis itself is only speculative.

In spite of this, individuals and even very young children who are given a diagnosis of ADD are typically given a prescription for an amphetamine, usually methylphenidate. This amphetamine is very similar to cocaine in terms of its effects on the brain (see Volkow et al, 1995); both drugs compete for the same binding sites on brain cells, both are taken up into the same areas of the brain, and both produce similar psychological effects. Perhaps the major differences are that methylphenidate remains in the brain much longer and the psychological expectations associated with the drug are much different.

Both methylphenidate and cocaine affect the brain by increasing levels of dopamine in the frontal lobes, an area responsible for motor planning, learning, problem solving, impulse control, memory, attention, language, analytical thinking and social behavior, and the striatum, an area responsible for processing and integrating sensory information.

Increased levels of dopamine make the brain feel powerful and happy and can produce addictive behaviors and responses. Elevated levels of dopamine also alter other neurochemicals and affect control muscle movements, sleep/wake cycles, hunger and satiety, arousal, heart rate, blood pressure, and stress responses.

If these altered levels of neurochemicals persist for too long (e.g. several weeks), the brain begins to try to bring the levels back to normal. If a neurochemical has been elevated for too long, the brain will begin to shut down some of the receptors for that neurochemical and will begin to kill off some of the transporters that move the neurochemical through the brain. We call this effect "downregulation."

After about three weeks it is possible to see these architectural changes with the electron microscope; after about four months the changes are significant. Four months on methlyphenidate, for example, will result in the loss of about 75% of the dopamine transporters and 20% of the dopamine receptors in the striatum (Vles et al, 2003). The striatum is an area of the brain critical for sensory processing, learning and memory.

Downregulation can have significant effects on the developing brain long after the drug has been withdrawn. Early exposure to methylphenidate, for example, has been linked to decreased interest in sex, food, emotional experiences, and novelty, and an increase in anxiety and stress levels in adolescence and adulthood (Bolanos, et al, 2003).

Of course, the brain can also "upregulate" by growing more transporters or receptors or making the remaining receptorsor more sensitive. However, upregulatio takes time.

It is dangerous to abruptly stop taking a medication after downregulation has occurred, so following a weaning schedule is recommended. The speed at which an individual is weaned from a drug like methylpheidate is based on the length of time they have been taking the medication and the dosage that they were receiving. A physician familiar with the neurological properties of the drug should be consulted before attempting to wean someone off such a drug.

Regardless of the problems associated with medications used to "treat" attention deficit, the question remains as to why a child is having problems paying attention. There are a host of metabolic, immunological, neurolgoical sensory and psychological causes of inattention including: metabolic disorders, allergies, toxins, sleep disorders, vitamin or fatty-acid deficiencies, thyroid disorders, diabetes, depression, boredom intolerance, high intelligence, high creativity, frontal lobe dysfunction, auditory or vestibular processing disorders, and learning disabilities.

Correctly identifying the underlying cause of inattention can help parents and medical professionals avoid the problems of exposing a developing brain to medications that alter neurochemicals, produce downregulation or create long-term side effects that may be far more serious than inattention.

The author, Michelle L. MacAlpine, Ph.D., is a cognitive developmental neuroscientist specializing in the assessment and treatment of sensory processing disorders, attention deficit, and developmental, academic and cognitive delays.

Things to Check When Choosing a Childcare Service

ByHarry Robinson

What To Do First

The obvious first step is to make a list of potential childcare service companies. You do this by searching online which is outside the scope of this article but by using a search engine you should be able to make a list of around ten childcare centers in your local area.

Next Step - Filter Down The Undesirables

Call or email each childcare company and go through an initial checklist. Have a good think about what you want to check and find out from these companies before you contact any of them. Speak to your partner to see if they have any more checks or questions to add to the list.

Here are some recommended questions for your initial (pre visit) checklist;

How many children per care personnel?

You may find some organizations allocate too many children per staff. Obviously the smaller this number the better but it will usually drive the price up. You will have to make a decision on a staff to children ratio that you are comfortable with.

What are their fees?

Make sure you specifically ask them to detail all of their fees include extra fees that may charge you. This is important as you do not want a nasty surprise when the bill comes into your mail box.

Is there a minimum contract term?

This is another 'small print' type check. Some childcare service companies make you sign up for a minimum period of time. Find this out and ask if there is an early termination fee.

Do they belong to any governing education bodies?

Ask them if they have official certificates to prove they have registered with their local childcare authority. And ask them if they have any other credentials.

Next Step - Visit The Childcare Companies

Once you have filtered out any companies that obviously don't fit your needs then you need to make appointments to visit the ones left over in your list. Don't be afraid to ask questions and have a nose around the place.

Look at how their staff interacts with the children. Would you be happy leaving your staff with these people?

Talk to other parents in the center and ask them for honest feedback on the place. You may have to get a quiet moment without any staff to get a full honest opinion but it is worth doing. If you follow these steps it should help you filter down to a couple of remaining childcare centers for you to enroll your child in.

If you are you interested in learning more then I suggest you head over to http://www.childforum.com/childcare.html to find a research site for childcare and education. You should head over to http://www.childforum.com/early-childhood-education.html to learn about their ECE articles for both teachers as well as for parents.

The Psychology of Beginning a Collection

ByAlex Tayrien

Collecting, whether it be dolls, coins, or figurines, can be a rewarding hobby. Beginning a collection is easy if you have a good understanding of the psychology of it. Figurines have always been a passion of mine. Collecting can be highly stimulating and rewarding. So here are some motivators and tips to help understand the psychology of collecting.

1. Find what is personal to you, something that holds a special meaning. My latest project has been dragon figurines. I first reflected on what those creatures meant for me, how they stood as giant mythic figures from my childhood. How they represented both monsters and champions. Once I realized what a strong presence they had in my subconscious approach to the world, I was able to get excited about taking these creatures from conception and giving them substance.

2. Consider what place they have in the world, what they really mean to people. Going with the same example, dragons can be found in almost every world culture. From Ancient Gaelic, to China, to Gothic England, they appear throughout ages and cultures. These creatures clearly represent something essential to human experience. Whether or not people know how much certain ideas mean to them, nevertheless, many things hold a mysterious attraction and power to people, and you, as a collector can be an expert when it comes to such things.

3. Consider the rarity and the quality of the item of your choice. Possessing something well crafted and rare is an end in itself. There is a certain power and joy that objects of fine craft possess, and a collection can be a fantasy world unto itself. A collection can be a constant source of inspiration to the imagination.

4. Find what aspect of an item is most important to you. Is it the artistry, is it the uniqueness of a piece? Is it the accumulated value? Once you have a vision of what aspects of your collectible is most important, your collection will grow organically, and thus will have more emotional and conceptual meaning. The more personal a collection is to you, the more psychologically beneficial it is.

In closing, I would add that when you have your heart set on a collection, begin slowly. Start with a few choice items and see how they make you feel. You'll know when its time to grow your collection. It is a source of inspiration, spiritual and psychological. I started with dragon figurines and collectibles, but there are many treasures out there. Whatever you choose, don't forget that your collection is meant to enhance your life. Happy collecting!

Managing Academic Modules With Educational ERP

ByRoshani R Vahora

Smooth deliverance of knowledge is the most crucial function of an Academic institute - It forms the nucleus of a school or college. However, at present we would see that a majority of schools and colleges are not been able to give maximum outputs as far as effective education is concerned. Past few decades have been very dynamic for educational sector; it has seen tremendous growth in terms of its conceptions and functions, thus giving rise to a number of intricacies which adversely affect its core operation.

But, as it said that "necessity is the mother of all inventions"; the obligation to produce extraordinary consequence, resulted into Online learning management system. Primarily developed for large scale corporation houses, it is now customized to suit the demands of an educational sector, i.e., effective deliverance of education.

It is hard to believe and digest that an ERP system can meet the rising scholastic demands in an educational institute. Schools and colleges have grown in terms of its core pursuit, founding as well as operations. A robust learning management system can not only assist the teachers but also the academic coordinators to deal with the day to day tasks which in way drain them of their energy and affect their productivity.

If we take a look at the jobs a teacher has to do; we will find that majority of them has to look after a series of mundane or say non-academic tasks, apart from concentrating on her actual job; i.e., teaching. They have to divide their time between like taking lessons and creating a detailed student portfolio containing their progress reports, assignments, personal details, submissions, timetables, exam schedules etc. One can't accept them to give 100% performance after applying most of their energy left in doing such tedious jobs.

Being comprehensive software, learning management system assimilates some of the non-teaching functions. It helps the teacher to focus her time and energy on the area of their core competence - Education. It creates maintains as well as stores a complete database containing customized reports related to student's progress, comparative analysis based on each terms, assignments submission, other personal records, etc.

ERP system saves the valuable time and energy of the faculties who can direct in trying to improve and take up an innovative approach towards teaching. It also makes a teacher pay some attention to the queries of the students, to connect with their students, helping them to solve queries related to academic queries as well as other out of class room queries.

Academic advantages of Learning management software is not only limited for the teachers, every person handling the scholastic functions right from the principal to faculty coordinators can reap the benefits from it.

Class scheduling and management needs accuracy and great deal of management on the part of an academic coordinator. A well developed educational ERP assist the coordinator and principal to keep a track of the class and subject allocated to the teachers. It makes it easy for them to allocate the subjects, once the class scheduling is done perfectly.

For a faculty to prepare customized annual analytical reports of the students, they have to keep a database and evaluate the progress manually. However, many learning management software offers a special wherein the progress report of the student can be prepared. The teacher only has to enter the data (marks or grades); it aids the faculty to make a customized presentation (in form of bar charts). Moreover, the students can download their results online and save it as PDF in their PCs. In this way, the students can also preserve their results.

Eduberry - Campus management software offers school management software and campus management solution for Higher education and Research. Institute management Software works well for schools, colleges and universities in India and other worldwide countries.

Is The Internet Making You Dumber or Smarter?

It seems to me that the Internet is making people stupid, and it's just not because the Internet is full of ridiculous and stupid information, as there is a lot of very good information on the Internet as well. Unfortunately, the highest traffic sites are those of celebrity gossip, pictures of kittens, and all sorts of other nonsense. Of course, the Internet is also used now for entertainment and is quickly replacing the television - social networks are replacing what people used to use the Internet and TV for; entertainment.

There was an interesting quote cited on the Famous Technium Blog posted on April 7, 2012 which stated; "The internet makes dumb people dumber and smart people smarter. Just as globalization and de-unionization have been major drivers of the growth of income inequality over the past few decades, the internet is now a major driver of the growth of cognitive inequality," stated Kevin Drum, reprinted from Mother Jones on February 17, 2012.

Indeed, I have philosophized about this previously, and it has been a discussion at our think tank over the last for five years, especially after the advent of social networking, it seems people are spending 3 to 4 hours a day wasting their time looking at nonsense. If we were to look at what the average American searches online each and every day, we would be able to easily classify their IQ, based on the types of things they are thinking about, involved with, and their level of curiosity based on the questions they type into the search engine.

In fact, I would say that since everyone uses the Internet now, smart people and dumb people, that is to say billions of people, and everything in between - that it probably is a reality that the Internet can make you smarter if you choose to let it, or it can dummy you down if you get sucked into the incessant nonsense. Luckily, as Americans we do have a choice. Now then, obviously I would hope that you choose more intelligent content to view, although as I understand it, everyone wants a little down time now and again.

Perhaps it is the percentage of intellectual content, or meaningless dribble that you view which makes all the difference. After all, it is said that you become what you think about, and if the search engine is an extension of your thoughts and your mind, then in fact how you use it, just as how you use your brain will determine if you are more intelligent or less intelligent in the future. Indeed I hope you will please consider all this and think on it.

Northern European Sun and Moon Gods and the Tree of Life

Both the Celts and Vikings had similar views on the Tree of Life. The only difference was the symbols each tribe chose for it. Most of the legends say that the creators or a descendant, sang it into being so he could practice his craft. This would be the invention of the magic of music. The music made the tree (Ash tree for some, and another Viking legend says a Spruce tree topped with flowers leaved in gold.). The top of the tree is in the heavens, scattered everywhere its branches. In the branches, we have the moon gleaming, and a Great Bear protector. The shining stars are the Fruit. And the groupings of stars on each branch are the major constellations and the ones surrounding its trunk(if one were to looking from above and down on the tree like a round slice), are the zodiacal constellations.

The Sun and Moon

All around the world, different cultures had their own explanations for the Moon. Some myths say that beneath the great tree was a well called the Well of Fate, and within a pair of swans were feeding, from whom all swans on earth were descended. The water from this well is so holy, it made all things put into it go pure white. If we look at the surviving story of Yggdrasill, we see a high tree, that is soaked with shining loam and from that comes dew which falls in the valley that is ever green. This Tree stands over a Well of Fate. Now if we find the other myths as symbols of Sky stories then this well would be the Moon. The light of the sun casts into the well makes phases of the moon. The swans as well as a hare with a basket is clearly visible on the moon, if you know how to see it.

The god Odin is but one God in the many myths of Northern Europe where a God has sacrificed or lost one of his eyes at a well of knowledge or wisdom. Also seen as a cauldron. The 'Man in the Moon' with his drinking horn, tipped up so he can imbibe the waters of the well is Mimir and he can also be seen on the face of the moon. Or you can look it instead as Odin receiving the a skull of Heiddraupnir and Hoddrofnir's horn. Again, the stories of the moon depend on the tribe and they all vary. There is no one Norse religion, nor is there no one Celtic religion, nor is there no one 1st Nations religion. And they would roll in their graves at the nonsense that goes on today with new-agers trying to fit all under an umbrella of "Celtic spirituality". Just as a Tribal Cree Chief would be insulted if you thought his bell dance, or ceremony, or God was the same as the Pawnee tribe. You'd be laughed right off the reserve.

For others the Sun was known as Bertha (bright) and was seen as a lovely goddess, while the Moon was called Heimdall, a powerful god who guarded the rainbow bridge that led to heaven.

A large wolf named Fenrir eventually caught Odin, is an eclipse. During these times ancient people would make loud noises, clanging on pots and pans to scare the beast away. Sometimes this wolf is called Moongarm, and his description is "He will fill himself with the lifeblood of everyone that dies, spatter heavens or skies with blood and as a result the sun will lose its shine and winds will then be violent raging to and fro. There is a shape of the front half of a wolf visible on the Moon.

Even nursery rhymes had their origins from images seen in the Moon's face. Jack and Jill were known as Hiuki and Bil in the Scandinavian parts. Others know them asd Jack of the Lantern and Will of the Wisp, the Sun and the Moon. The well is there and you can pretty much guess the rest.

Heimdall, a Moon God, needs less sleep than a bird. He can see, by night just as well as by day, a distance of a hundred leagues. He can also hear grass growing on the earth and wool on sheep and everything that sounds louder than that. He has a trumpet called Giallarhorn (loud horn) and its blast can be heard in all worlds. The head is referred to as Heimdall's sword. The 'Man in the Moon' was the god himself, and its white glow explains why he was known as the white god. The phases of the Moon were explained here not as a well but instead it appears as a crescent, or great horn, Giallarhorn, used to blow a loud call at the end of the world when giants would come to besiege heaven. A quarter-moon it was seen to be the god's bright smile - Gullintanni (means 'shining teeth'), and when it was a half-moon it was thought to be one of his great ears. Heimdall sacrifice is an ear, not an eye, the sliver moon vs. the full moon.

Confusing Real History with Myth

The German deities Bertha, Heimdalli and Lodur (god of fire) were mentioned in the Gallic War of Julius Caesar over two thousand years ago. These were also called Sol, Luna, and Vulcan or Freyia, Heimdall and Loki. Again, depends on the area and tribe.

Conclusion

In conclusion to understand our Pedigree or Family Tree it is now easier to see how our last names and the tribe or clan names were founded and where we are in the tree of life. As we all follow glorious lines of succession to these original Gods, as their children. The fathers or Mothers of mankind is on one of the branches but all stem from the tree.

The writings of the world in this mythology help us understand prehistoric beliefs of Northern Europe. And that the sky and surroundings formed the basis for their gods, Different part of the earth had different energies and thus different Gods but the sky gods are similar in every single culture.

Medical Transcription - A Rewarding Allied Health Care Career

ByGreg J Carson

I was hospitalized when I was a child. It was bad; I ate something that the Doctors later found out contained pesticides. I can no longer remember the exact way it happened I just recalled picking up something in my neighbor's backyard and putting it in my mouth, then feeling bad and vomiting. After that the next thing I can recall is waking up in the hospital with my mom on my side smiling at me while touching my head.

It took me two more weeks in there. I can recall that the stay there was bad. I wasn't allowed solid food, the doctor said it was bad for my throat and I had a tube that runs up my nose directly to my stomach. It was where liquefied food was injected using a big syringe.

After a few weeks of that, I was allowed solid food and that's when things got better for me. But the days where I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything was really bad. However, there were moments that I felt relieved. It's when the doctors and nurses would visit me and check out my vitals and somehow say something nice or ask me if there's anything that hurt. A soothing and compassionate touch here and there wasn't bad too.

During those times, I felt a very high regard for people in the health care. I wanted to very much become a doctor back then. To see them able to help patients get well and touch their lives was such an excellent sight. That part of my life really had a deep effect on me.

However, things sometimes don't go the way we dream them to. You see we weren't well-off. My mom was a teacher and my dad was a prison guard with eight kids. Yes, we were eight kids in the family, I was the third eldest and after my high-school graduation I lost my dream of starting a career in the medical profession. Back then all I could think of was get the shortest course I can and start working to help my Mom and Dad.

So I went to the nearest college and checked out what they offered. That was when I saw one training program on medical transcription. I inquired about it with the student assistant in the registration office and she was very accommodating and explained to me what it's all about. I learned that it was mostly about encoding dictations. It won't involve any actual physical contact with patients unlike traditional health care service providers but I least I would learn everything about the medical industry.

I still had my doubts then but the beautiful and accommodating student assistant was a bit persuasive and let me in on a little secret. She's taking the training as well and would let me in their study group if I want to and in case I enroll. So, I did. I enrolled and everything was well after that. Sure the subjects were sometimes hard. Think about learning pharmacology. Human anatomy and physiology was a relief but the more technical subjects were not easy.

Still I finished the program. A few years later I got a job in a local clinic where I gained more experience. I stayed there for 5 years, the pay was good and I was able to save for a car and a house but more than that I got to work with Sherrie, in case you're wondering, she's the student assistant who persuaded me to take the training. She's also the one who recommended me to work in the clinic. She got there ahead of me and when more transcriptionists were required she recommended me.

That was 5 years ago. Today Sherrie is my wife and we run our own medical transcription company. We have our own home, a stable business and a baby coming. What more can I ask for? I owe all this to medical transcription. I'm not able to make direct contact with patients but in my own small way I'm taking care of them and in return I was rewarded with a life worth living.

Thinking about starting a rewarding career in medical transcription but don't know how? Then visit Medical Transcription Certification where you will find lots of excellent information and easy to follow tips about training and becoming a certified medical transcriptionist

Sky Watchers: Why Did It Come Complete To The Sumerians

We know that any field of study does not develop in one day. It takes time and the one discovery leads to another. In the end the one builds on the other but when we look at the Astronomy used by the Sumerians, we get the idea they received their answers from heaven.

Astronomy

While you may know, this Astronomy is the study of stars and astrology is the study of Fortune telling. While they both use the constellations, stars and planets as the base of understanding the one has no scientific base while the other does. We talk about Astronomy here.

Ancient Mysteries researcher Alan Alford wrote a book called Gods of the New Millennium. Alford has the idea that the Sumerians must have received their knowledge from a race of gods. According to him, the Sumerian had a complete model of the universe right at the beginning of their civilization 6000 years ago. They compiled hundreds of accurate predictions about eclipses and phases of the moon. This also included predicting the equinoxes.

The Wobble of the Earth's Axis

Another amazing part of the Sumerian understanding of astronomy is the fact that they knew about the wobble in the axis of the earth. This wobble is so slow that it takes the earth 26 000 years to complete on circle. This is also the reason why we say we are going into the Age of Aquarius now. While the mystics may make a lot of this, it is an astronomical explainable issue.

Any Other Explanation?

As with most of the ideas connecting us with an alien race or a visit by god-like beings, astronomers reject this explanation and look for answers that are more believable. Astronomers rather believe that the ideas were bubbling up for a long time and it took a breakthrough of some kind to complete this body of knowledge. We also see this in the field of cell phone and computer development. The development might be ahead now a missing part is discovered. At the precise moment of discovery the discovery is already outdated. The Chinese are very good in connecting a new development to things they have already developed.

Far from being backward our ancestors possessed the technology that in many respects were more developed and creative than ours today. Every solstice and equinox old traditions are still repeated at sacred sites across the world as if the ritual in itself will stop the solstice and bring back the sun. Still while the rituals beginning were ancient, the astronomers of the time were keen observers and could predict the yearly phenomena. Whether they knew the reason behind the happening is not clear but my guess is they did but just like in the days of Galileo, it was a religious driven act to perform certain rituals and instead of fighting it, they just kept the truth silent.

Leon Steyn is interested in Astronomy, Archaeology, Religion, Anthropology, Ancient Cultures, Spirituality and Writing fiction and non-fiction. Have a look at how he incorporated these topics in his spiritual fiction online e-book Ozymandeus or email him at ozyman

All You Need to Know About Dry Ice

ByEmma Heuton

It is widely believed that dry ice was first introduced in 1834 by French scientist, Charles Thilorier. Further, in the year 1924, Thomas B. Slate applied for patent to sell dry ice commercially in the US. Subsequently, he became the first person to produce the chemical successfully for commercial purpose. In the year 1925, the solid form of Carbon Dioxide was trademarked as 'Dry Ice' by the Dry Ice Corporation of America.

Dry ice is frozen form of CO2 or Carbon Dioxide. The chemical is odorless, colorless and non-flammable. Also, it is slightly acidic. The chemical has a very low temperature -109.3

Dead Sea Scrolls: Amateur Archaeologists Involved In Deciphering Papyri

We know the past can help us understand our own existence. One way is to understand what happened to people before us. The problem is time because we need thousands of hours to unravel small bits of discovered evidence. Now with the help of the internet fragments of papyri and scrolls can be put online and amateur enthusiasts may just help in trying to unravel them.

In the Egyptian city of Oxyrhynchus hundreds of thousands of retrieved pieces of papyri were found on rubbish dumps. These pieces may never have been opened because of their enormous numbers. Now thanks to a new initiative, they are put online and you might sit in your house and try to find out what they actually mean.

Already discovered in 1896 scholars have only managed to decipher two percent of everything. Under the supervision of the Egypt Exploration Society and the Oxford University you can offer help if you have an interest

How To Help?

Have you always wanted to offer your services in archaeological findings but did not know how? Most of the time you could not travel to Greece or Egypt or the Middle East. Another problem was the language. You could not speak the language so how would you help. Well now you can. The good news is, you do not need to know the Greek language at all.

Ancient Lives is a website you can visit.

You only need to been a keen observer. They will show you online a piece of papyri. Then you pick a character in the image. Below this, you can try to identify the corresponding character on a keyboard. The recognition tools built into the program will even help you do this. A previously unknown Lost Gospel has already been discovered. The project is under the leadership of Chris Lintott from the Physics Department.

You can now become part of the exciting world of researching ancient artefacts. Since researchers cannot read everything they find, they need help. Tutors - How To Use Technology To Your Advantage

ByEric Onsembe Ogero

A tutor is a person who is employed to assist others with their academic studies and assignments on a part-time basis. Before a person can be qualified to be called a tutor, he must first obtain specified professional qualifications from a college or university on what he intends to teach others. For instance, a person who wants to tutor adults in complex mathematics has to pursue a degree in the same course or obtain a relevant diploma from a recognized center of higher learning. The person is also required to have a few years of experience when it comes to teaching. In this respect; tutors are people who have been teachers at one point in their lives and therefore know how to communicate and relate with students.

There are usually two types of tutors - those that are privately hired and those that are not. Private tutors are instructors who teach specific subjects or courses to individual students. In most cases, private tutors are hired and paid by the students although there are special cases where an agency or the student's family can decide to foot the bill. More often than not, the tutors are required to meet with the students at their place of residence. This falls in the context of homeschooling. In other situations, tutors can choose to meet up with their students in a neutral place such as a public library.

That said; professional tutors are in very high demand. These tutors are constantly being sought after by college students who need help with their academic assignments and guidance on how to prepare for their examinations. If you happen to be a professional tutor who receives numerous requests from students who want your services and you're reading this post then you'll be glad to know that this post will help you learn how to manage your career better by using technology to your advantage.

One way that professional tutors can use technology to their advantage is by implementing online appointment scheduling systems. Better known as online booking systems, these are systems that professionals, not only tutors, can use to help them keep track of all their clients, their specific needs and the time that they want to be catered to among many others. In order for us to better understand this concept let us look at how online booking systems function.

As mentioned earlier, online appointment scheduling systems help professionals to manage their careers by helping them keep track of the number of clients that they receive and the specific services that they require. Where tutors are concerned, these computerized systems helps tutors to be able to know about the different people who require their services. For example, once these systems have been integrated into the official website of the tutor, people who require the services of a specific tutor can simply go online, find his official website and send a request to the tutor with the details of what they require.

This system of using the internet to communicate with professionals has many advantages to both the tutors and the clients seeking their services. To the tutors, online booking systems help them to be able to save time that they would have otherwise spent in making phone calls or meeting with clients on a one on one basis. Instead, professional tutors with good reputations can simply receive requests from potential clients online and as such they will be able to plan their schedules accordingly as to when they will cater to these clients' needs.

Online booking systems are also advantageous to the clients. In this respect; the clients are at liberty to use any electronic device that can connect to the internet and supports a browser to make a booking.

Indeed, the use of online appointment scheduling systems coupled with scheduling software has revolutionized the way tutors, and other professionals, go about interacting with their clients.

Find out how your business can benefit from using an online booking system by visiting LiveSchedule online scheduling software.

529 College Savings Plan - An Overview of Information

ByErik R Johnson

Many states and educational institutions offer 529 Plans to help families set aside money for the future costs of education that younger members of the family will incur. These plans are named for Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code, which is a special tax code that provides money-saving benefits for those who qualify. The 529 College Savings Plan provides an excellent opportunity to save responsibly for a quality education in the future.

Details of the 529 Plan

The 529 Plan was developed in the late 1990s, after Section 529 was added to the Internal Revenue Code in 1996. Every state has some sort of savings plan for families thanks to this tax code, but the plans vary somewhat by state. Some states only offer one type of plan, while others offer a variety of options. This is why it's important to research all the plans that are available and see which one is most suitable.

The funds in these savings plans can be used for any accredited, qualifying college in the country, so it's also important to make sure the college of choice qualifies under the stipulations of the plan. This applies to out-of-state college tuition as well - so as long as the school qualifies, the college student can be attending school in any other state, regardless of where the owners of the savings plan reside.

Variations on the 529 College Savings Plan

There are prepaid 529 Plans, and there are also gradual savings plans, which both offer special tax incentives. If a consumer starts a 529 Savings Plan, he or she will be able to contribute money to a mutual fund or other investment product, much as one would to a 401(k) or Investment Retirement Arrangement (IRA). There are different investment options to choose from, and the increase in value of the plan will vary based on the success of the option chosen.

A Prepaid 529 Plan, on the other hand, allows the consumer to pay ahead of time for the costs of a public college in their home state. Educational institutions may even offer their own Prepaid 529 Plans, including the Private College 529 Plan. A traditional Prepaid 529 Plan may also be converted into a plan for private colleges or public colleges in other states.

There are many benefits to 529 College Savings Plans, both for the owner of the account and the beneficiary years down the line.

Harriet Who?

Today, they'd call her 'unconventional'. Harriet Qimby was born in Michigan in 1875 and by 1900, she was working as a journalist in San Francisco.

It was in 1910 that she became interested in flying and very soon gained her pilot's licaence. This was a 'first', too, as she became the first woman to have gained a flying licence in the USA. The following year, she decided that she wanted to fly an aircraft across the Englsih Channel. Bleriot had done it in 1909 and since then, several other (male) aviators had been killed trying to follow him.

The English Channel was as much an attitude of mind as a geographical place in the early 20th century. A well-known newspaper headline of the time once noted "Fog in Channel, Europe cut off.'.

From Dover to Calais it is about 25 miles (more or less) and it is often foggy, misty, raining and/or blowing hard. To fly that 25 miles in a small, lightweight, fabric aircraft of the period takes the sort of cold-blooded courage that only heros can manage. No doubt about it- Ms Harriet Quimby was a heroine.

On the morning of April 16th she set off from Dover in a monoplane - and that was unusual in itself. Most aircraft in those days were chunky biplanes, with one set of wings below the cockpit and one above, joined by strong guy wires, yet Harriet chose a more fragile-looking monoplane. The only instrument she had to guide her was a compass, given to her at the last moment by an advisor.

Part way across, she ran into fog. Sensibly, she gained more height until she was above the clouds and flew on. After about an hour, she started to let down and must have been delighted to see the French coast ahead of her, appearing out of the fog.

She landed safely on a sandy beach, just north of Calais, to a rapturous welcome from the local people and very soon returned to England - and that is when everything started to go wrong.

The night before, a transatlantic liner had managed to smash into a rather solid iceburg and accordingly the newspapers were all full of the disaster which had befallen the 'Titanic'. Harriet's achievement only got into the second page of the local Dover newspapers and didn't make the National newspaper headlines at all.

Once she returned to the USA she did get a huge welcome, but later commentators have suggested that because there was considerable suffragette agitation around that time, her achievement was never fully acknowledged.

In July of 1912, she took part in a rehearsal for an air show, before flying the mail from Boston to New York. Sadly, that flight never took place. She was killed during the rehearsal, thrown out of her aircraft and falling into the sea.
Between the 'Titanic' and her tragically early death, history more or less forgot Harriet Quimby.

To find out more about Harriet Quimby, go to the Harriet Quimby Home page at: http://www.harrietquimby.org. You can also find a brief article about her, which I wrote a while ago, at: http://idugit.hubpages.com

Of all things, I first read about her in a time-travel science fiction book, "From Time to Time', written by Jack Finney around 1995. There is a scene in the book where she is being interviewed by newspapermen before she sets off from New York. I'd never heard of her before and decided check her biography on-line in case she was a real person - and there it was. A real person, a real live heroine and hardly anyone remembers her marvelous achievement.

Different Permutations of the Dragon: Exploring the Myths of the Hydra, Nagas and Aspis

ByAlex Tayrien

The Dragon appears in nearly every culture's mythology. It shows its face in forms as diverse as Wyrm in Scandanavia and the Lochness monster in Ireland. Here, we explore three diverse monsters: The Hydra of ancient Greece, the fabled creature from India, the Nagas, and the Aspis of medieval times. These, of course, are no more than dragons in disguise.

The infamous Hydra, comes from the myth of Hercules. This Hydra, which resided in Lake Lerna, was Hercules' second labor. It has been referenced by authors as diverse as Seneca and Hesiod.

Here are some peculiarities specific to the Hydra:

1. It had 9 heads.

2. Its middle head is immortal.

3. It was raised personally by Hera, the enemy of Hercules and wife of Zeus.

4. It was a female.

5. It was killed by the only thing that could harm it: venom from its own spilled blood.

The Nagas, are legendary monsters found throughout Vedic and Buddhist myth. They have different qualities depending on which culture you ask.

1. Malaysia and Cambodia: The Nagas is multi-headed, much like the Hydra. Males has an odd number of heads, females an even number. This satisfies the aesthetic of yin and yang.

2. Vedic myth: Here they are single-headed. Depending on the myth they are viewed as both hateful and benevolent. In the Mahabharata, they are the curse of King Pariksit. Elsewhere, it is the Naga who assists the gods in recovering the elixir of life, amrita. The Eternal Naga, Ananta, was the throne of Ganesh. And the Bhagavad Gita casts the Naga as the symbol of Krishna.

3. Buddhist myth: One of the most famous Naga, Mucalinda, the Naga King, was the protector of Buddha. When Siddhartha Gautama was meditating his way to Nirvana, the elements were set in a fury, and a great tempest was sent upon him. Mucalinda knowing the greatness of the moment emerged from the earth, spread his hood over Buddha as the tempest raged for 7 days.

The Aspis was a posionous serpent from medieval literature. With two legs, though, it is clearly a form of Dragon. Here are a couple things particular to the monster.

1. It is highly venomous. So much so that even grazing the skin of a dead Aspis was certain death.

2. Its only weakness was music. Simply playing a tune, would lull it to sleep.

As you can see, the Dragon persists throughout human legend. Maybe it is inherent to the human mind to craft a serpent as the perfect monster, the dragon.

Alex Tayrien is a fan of dragon mythology and has broadened that interest into a business, selling dragon statues and figurines at:

Educational Games Can Be Used in the Pursuit of Learning

ByMD Rabiul Islam

A person's future is determined by his level of education. Education is an integral aspect of our lives. The process in which education is imparted can be of many varieties. Increasingly research is being conducted to find out ways and means to bring about changes and improvements in the educational system.

Educational games aim to provide a supportive pillar to help the child learn better and faster. Besides the power of cognition that all human beings possess is stimulated with the help of these games so that the child understands how to recognize and differentiate between different perceptions.

Education can no longer be imparted merely through theory. Practical experience is now a very important part of the process. Therefore some theories suggest that in order to entertain children and make the learning experience interesting to them, games should be added to the learning process. The good news is that educational games are available in large numbers and free of cost which can be used in both the class as well as home to enrich the educational process. These games help children to think on their own and thus act as a stimulator on their minds.

A lot of such games can be downloaded for free from the internet too. Such educational games are divided into different levels to suit the learning abilities of different age groups of children. For example, you could buy games for toddlers while there are games for pre-school children and for those who have started attending school too. These games add the element of fun to the learning experience which otherwise children might find dull and boring.

Interesting games like memory games are very popular among children. It helps them to increase their power of remembrance. Again puzzles as well as word games or games with pictures are liked by children. Alphabets and numbers can be easily taught through the medium of such fun stuff. Thus the children learn right from the base and at the same time they do not feel bored but experience a sense of delight with the addition of these games to their studies.

It has been noted that children become more efficient when they get access to such games. You could let them play games free of charge on the internet. You would find them ecstatic when they play these. You may also download the games directly of you wish or borrow them from someone through copying on a CD. The best part of it is that these games cover a wide variety of subjects and are available for different age groups. They help arrest the attention of children and enable to learn at a faster pace compared to studying only from books. Thus the usefulness of educational games is undeniable.

Mentally children feel very enthusiastic when they are engaged with these educational games. They help children spend time mastering the power of analysis and implementation and thus act towards their overall mental development as well as improve their skills naturally.

Writing is my hobby. Just write to spread knowledge.

Educational Perennialism Philosophy

ByMD Rabiul Islam

Perennialists are those who think that one should educate others with the things that one considers as perpetual significance to all people the world over. They suppose that the most significant subjects build up a person. And because aspects of fact are constantly changing, these are not the most significant. Thus, one should focus on principles, and not on facts. And because people are human, one should concentrate first on being human, and as not machines or methods to be used. Because people are people first, and workers are secondary if at all, one should focus on teaching liberal topics initially, and not to concentrate on educational topics.

Scientific reasoning is a specific method with modern perennialists thinking that it should be taught first instead of the facts. They may demonstrate the reasoning with the primary descriptions of popular experiments. This provides the students with a human side to the scientific discipline, and demonstrates the reasoning in deed. Most significantly, it illustrates the vagueness and wrong techniques of true science.

Though perennialism may emerge the same as essentialism, perennialism first concentrates on personal progress, while essentialism first concentrates on using necessary skills. Essentialist programs therefore are inclined to be much more educational and based on facts, and extremely less broadminded and based on principles. Both philosophies are characteristically believed to be teacher-focused, as against to student-focused philosophies of education like progressivism. Nevertheless, because teachers are linked with perennialism they are in a way the instigators of the Western works of art, they may welcome student criticism through the related Socratic method, which, if taught as the right dialogue, creates a balance between students and the teacher that promotes the dialogue.

Perennialists also think that reading is to be balanced off with common investigations and modestly-directed dialogues with the use of the Socratic method so as to create a traditionally oriented comprehension of notions. They dispute that precise, autonomous reasoning differentiates the educated mind and they therefore explains the progress of this facility. A trained teacher would maintain discussions on subject and right the errors in approaches, but it would be the students and not the teacher, that would arrive at the conclusions. Without directing the class to a conclusion, the teacher may put some effort to precisely devise problems within the range of the texts being deliberated.

While the normal argument for making use of a modern text sustains refinement of details into a structure which is pertinent to contemporary society, perennialists believe that lots of the past discussions and the development of notions offered by the great books are significant to any civilization, and therefore the suitability of the great books for teaching is indifferent to their age.

The most old-fashioned, conventional, or unbendable of the five philosophies is perennialism, which is a philosophy that draws a lot from traditional characterizations of education. Perennialists think that education, just like the human nature, is invariable. Since the distinctive characteristic of humans is the capacity to reason out, education should concentrate on building up rationality. For the perennialist, education means preparing for life, and students should learn of the world's stability with the use of structured study.

Examination Practices That Can Help You Pass

An exam can either spell success or doom depending on how you handle it. Some people fail exams not because of failing to prepare adequately, but because of doing wrong things during an examination. How can you succeed during an exam?

Preparing your mind just before an exam

The period just before an exam is very important in preparing your mind. You have been studying for some time and there is practically nothing tangible you can do to improve, academically, at this point. Make sure you are in a relaxed mood. Do not allow anyone to remind you about a topic you have not studied at this time. Be content.

If you have always been putting on a certain type of attire, maintain it. Do not introduce drastic changes to yourself at this time. Since there could only be less than ten minutes before the exam commences, make sure you have organized all the necessary exam requirements.

Exam practices to help you pass

Once you have been handed the exam paper, read every written word on the cover page. This mechanism helps you to make sure that you are writing the right paper and you do not miss any critical instructions.

In order to get the best results during the exam, here are some tips you can look out for:
Choose questions thoroughly: Choose questions you are sure you can answer, and start with the easiest. Avoid spending time on long and challenging questions as you start.
Understand the questions: Read through the questions at least two times. Take your time to grasp what each question is asking for. Do not preempt the questions.
Put your mind to work: Allow your mind to work to its full dimensions. Do not look for excuses to avoid putting in your very best.
Avoid distracting yourself: When the exam is in progress, the invigilator will keep vigil to make sure you are not distracted. Therefore, ignore any person communicating to you; and avoid doing the same unless you are allowed.
Do not cheat: Cheating is the sure way to guarantee failure even if you had the potential to pass. If you are caught cheating, that might be the end. But if you are not caught, you are not going to write with a free mind.
A silent prayer: This has been noted to be a super source of strength and confidence during examinations. Smile to yourself and be happy at this time.
Consult the invigilator: When you have any matter that has come up, promptly consult the invigilator.

Conclude an exam with pride

As the exam draws to a close, check through your work. Ensure that you have answered the right questions according to instructions. Carefully look at your answer script and make sure you have entered your details correctly. Then you can smile back and handover the answer scrip.

Social Media Today: Be Smart, Be Safe

Social Media web sites have become a global information network that undoubtedly has many benefits. However, with this increased exposure, it is vital to make sure your children are wise and remain safe as they post information online. Students should not post information about themselves online that they would not want the whole world to know.

This is especially important when students are applying to college. Negative or inappropriate posts may be seen by admission officers and affect an admissions decision. Students must realize that many people may see their posts including teachers, employers, and college admission officers.

Some college admission representatives (and employers), will research students online to see if there is data available to help make an admission decision. Once data is online, it stays online. Even when something is deleted, it may stay on another's computer.

Colleges post current information and chat with students across social media websites. Educating your kids on the best way to use websites such as Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and Tumblr may protect them from potential problems and increase their chances of admission into their top choice colleges.
Chat rooms, blogs, emails and instant messaging are other factors where parents need to carefully instruct children on appropriate measures. For example, your child's screen name should be a name that is not their name which can be used to identify them. However, an email address can reflect a student's name as they will be easily identified when communicating with colleges.

In addition to being smart online to increase chances of being admitted into colleges and obtaining a job, there are security risks when using the internet and social media web sites.

Here are some tips for taking extreme precaution and remaining safe online:

• Join sites where you can keep your information private and restrict access based on approval.

• Make sure that only information you are comfortable revealing is posted. Be extremely careful; about posting personal information such as your child's full name, address, phone number, social security number or any bank or credit card information.

• Parents should monitor what their kids post regarding the name of their school, club or sports team as sometimes people can be identified using this information

• Try not to let your child post their photo online. Pictures can be altered and used in unacceptable ways

• Inform your kids not to make friends with strangers online. People may not always be honest about who they really are.

• Children should know to tell a parent (or adult) if there is any suspicious activity online

Communicate with your kids...ask questions about what they are doing online and try to stay informed. Teach your children how to use privacy settings, how to create strong passwords and to be skeptical about things they read online.

Children are especially susceptible to the dangers that social networking sites may present. Your kids need this education to make them safe social media users and maximize their opportunities for college acceptance and their career.

Off Campus Apartments Promote Friendship

ByAce Abbey

It's one of the most often repeated clichés you'll ever hear: college is the most fun four years of your life. But at what point does a cliché simply become a truism? Surely that one must have passed the test. Indeed, for many, college is one of the most memorable and formative experiences in life. There are surely an almost infinite number of reasons for this-exploring new intellectual pursuits, rooting for the team on Saturdays, discovering passions you had never dreamed of-but perhaps the real reason why college is such an extraordinary time is because of the lifelong friendships that are established. Hanging out and living with fellow classmates on a day to day basis for four years will certainly create some strong relationships. In fact, you might find that, as fun as all the parties are, as exciting as all the sporting events are, the times you will cherish the most in college are the times in which you and your friends are just hanging out and enjoying each other's company-that is, the time that you spend really living together. And while you can live in a dorm or in a fraternity or sorority house, some of the best places to live during college are in off campus apartments.

Off campus apartments offer all kinds of benefits and advantages that you might not necessarily get elsewhere. We can begin with naming perhaps the most obvious boon: independence. You're not going to be weighed down by the rules and regulations of dorm life here; you and your friends are on your own. And while this might mean a lot of fun and a lot of parties, it also means opting out of that stuff when you don't feel like it. Need a quiet place to study without feeling burnt out by the stuffy and austere library? You can do your work from the comfort of your own room-so long as you can get your roommates on the same page. But you'll find that everyone prefers to be on the same schedule anyway.

Off campus apartments also often provide things that might be hard to come by in other housing options: spacious rooms, porches, individual bathrooms, plenty of recreational area-you can expect all of these nice luxuries. Have a pet? You probably won't be allowed to bring one in the dorm, and a fraternity house certainly isn't the best place to keep it. Off campus apartments allow you to have a pet at school and know that it's in a safe environment while you're at class. Many of these spots will also have amenities like a pool, fitness center, or occasionally even a small screening room. Living with your friends in off campus apartments can enhance your college experience and help foster lifelong relationships.

Knoxville off campus apartments are a great way to forge new relationships that can keep you supported during your years away from home. For great housing options, visit http://www.retreatknoxville.com

The History of Honey

ByBrenda L Hopkins

Many people have seen honey or eaten honey at sometime in their life, but what many people don't know is the history behind honey. Honey collection began almost 8,000 years ago according to ancient cave paintings. The cave paintings depict people carrying gourds or baskets to collect the honey from wild bee hives. Even the ancient Egyptians knew of this sweet nectar. They used it to sweeten cakes and biscuits and added it to many other dishes. They also used honey in the embalming process and as an offering to the fertility God Min.

In ancient Rome honey is well documented in many cook books as a sweetener in many dishes. The Chinese practiced the art of beekeeping and the practice is well documented in the book "Golden Rules of Business Success". In the book Fan Li mentions the importance of the wooden box for good tasting honey. Honey was also widely used by the Mayans for both culinary and religious purposes.

Honey has played a role in many religions over time. In Hinduism honey is regarded as one of the five elixirs of immortality. In Jewish tradition honey is a symbol for the New Year and eaten at the traditional meal to bring a sweet New Year, in fact the Hebrew bible contains many references to honey. The most famous of these is found in the book of Exodus where is describes the Promised Land "flowing with milk and honey". Oddly enough honey is considered kosher even though it is produced from a non kosher animal.

In Buddhism honey plays an integral role in the festival of Madhu Purnima. This day commemorates Buddha, it is said that he made peace with his disciples by going in to the wild. While in the wild a monkey gave him some honey to eat. This is remembered by giving the gift of honey to the monks, this gift is well depicted in Buddha's art. It is also referenced in Islam as well, the Prophet Muhammad recommend it for healing purposes, and the Qur'an promotes it as a healthy food full of life giving properties.

Most all religions make some reference to honey at some point perhaps due to its healing properties. Honey has been found in the tombs in Egypt and is said to be the one food on Earth that will never spoil. Many cultures believe it to be good for use on cuts, rashes, and burns. It is also said to help with sore throats and coughs as well as a cure for the hiccups. Honey has been called the nectar of the Gods and for good reason, it is mentioned in so many religious texts that it may very well be just that.

Summer Camps - Choose the Right One

ByPady N

Its vacation time for all children and also when they are at their naughtiest. Parents look for enrolling their children in summer camps to keep them occupied and also enhance their knowledge. Come summer time and you will find scores of camps that advertise for various activities. Choosing one of them from many is a difficult task that a parent is faced with. This task of choosing gets tougher with children opting for the activities that their friends have enrolled for.

With so much of confusion and pressure that parents face from friends and children, here are some tips to help you narrow on one summer camp that can be helpful for your child's all round development.

1. Make a list of the available summer camps - get your children involved in this task of listing. Ask your children to find out about the various summer camps available near your home. This would include all categories - physical fitness, mental fitness, memory enhancement and hobbies etc.

2. Interest of your child - once a parent has a list of the various activities in the area; it is best that they have a chat with their children and identify their interests. This will help to narrow down the search better and also easily. For example: if the child is interested in swimming, there will only be 2-3 summer camps in a locality which has this activity. Therefore, you will then need to narrow down your search based on the criteria given below, which makes it easy to decide.

3. Duration of each camp - this year I came across many ads for summer camps spanning for a maximum period of 10days. It is therefore important for a parent to identify the time that they are willing to spend.

4. The cost involved - of course, this would be the deciding factor for narrowing down on a particular summer camp. Most of them charge anywhere between Rs.750 - Rs2500 depending on the time and the activity.

5. Activities for the child - this is the foremost point to be considered before deciding on a summer activity for your child. Given the time duration with the activities that has been specified, identify if the administrator will be able to complete all of them within the stipulated time. If the numbers of activities are too less or more, then that camp is not for you.

Every summer camp offers lots of activities, but due to time and monetary constraints, not all of these can be enrolled for.

Facts About Hitler and the Holocaust You Really Need to Know

ByRaymond J Lin

The term Judenrein has a lot to do with the Holocaust, it means to get rid of Jews.

Jewish experience during the Holocaust doesn't only mean hiding until the storm is over, that only applies to the lucky. Most of the Jews died, Hitler killed roughly 6 million Jews during the Holocaust which begun in 1942.

Why didn't the Jews fight back? It isn't because they couldn't, it's because even 'till that moment, they had strong religious beliefs and fastened to their traditions.

How much do we really know about Hitler? We know that he came to power after WW1 meitculously assimilating the economic downfall into his plans. But do we all know Hitler once had a lover and had dreams along with tough times? He also had a self-searching moment which all youthes had, except he found a fascist devotion to his country...instead. Well, Hitler's lover was Eva Braun, and the result of this love...is suicide. Failing to be viable to Hitler, she shot herself. Where did Hitler's anti-semitic and communistic ideas come from? Well, if you've read Mein Kampf the you should know. It was during the time when Hitler and his early Nazi party tried to revolt against the Weimar Republic that Mein Kampf developed it's foundation. It was when Hitler was sent to jail as a result that he spent his time writing. Within the process of his writing, he developed an obsession, a pure corrupted image of a semitic communistic conspiracy. Hitler was a fascist leader who promoted nationalism, however, did all of Germany love him? The answer is no, during the latter stages of World War II, when Hitler was driven to edge, German War Generals were deemed failures by Hitler. This led to frustration with why Hitler couldn't seem to acknowledge their abilities. Eventually, the generals plotted a conspiracy to assassinate the Fuhrer. If it succeeded, then WWII would've long been over. The end result was devastating, all conspirators were to be executed. Lastly, Hitler death is vastly debated. It is believed that he either took cyanide poisoning or suicide by firearm. But either way it was suicide since he refused to be captured by the "red front."

During the Holocaust, many sacrifices were made, a common scenario would be weighing the life of your own child to the lives of 30. The father would unhesitatingly silence his own son. Also, sons would kill fathers for food.

As Hitler came to power, a series of solutions took place before the Holocaust. First were the nuremberg laws. They took away the rights of Jews and deemed them unable to have marriage with any other race. Next came Kristallnaught, this was a major mark-up in Jewish persecution. It was "the night of broken glass" and believed to have started as a Jewish son shot a German minister out of revenge. After Kristallnaught, the Jews were deported to the Ghettos. They were isolated and soon sent to death camps executing Hitler's final solution. Alternatives of getting rid of Jews were emigrating them to other countries, or sending them away to areas such as Madagascar. This plan ultimately failed as their were millions of Jews.

The Holocaust was believed to have made referance to the Dark Ages. The Romans in the past were believed to have also tagged Jews with the Yellow Star of David and also have isolated them into Ghettos.

During the Jewish transition into realism, they almost immediately lost everything, love lives, birthday-presents, age, names...everything. To survive in the death camps, you'd have to change your age and occupation to working status, otherwise the Germans would have no use for you and send you to the infernos.

At first, the Jews didn't believe that all of the anti semitism was true. They continued to hold this belief or hope until deportation to death camps. Those who witnessed German cruelty were named insane or senile. Even when the Germans came they believed they were nice and harmless. It was only until the world stood silent as hundreds of babies and children were swamped in carrion-ash by the holocaust that Jews lost hope.

Continuing on with the fate of those who were lucky enough to get into labor camps, they were forced to be shaven head to toe naked. Herded like swines and into mis-matched clothes that would've caused laughter. Meals consisted of just a bowl of soup and black coffee. Executions towards defilers would take place consistently, and physicians would check up on the Jewish workers every few weeks on health to see which are to be "selected." Those selected are chosen to die because of their inability to work. Any misinformation has the power to kill. For example, many Jews would ask each other about how there family is faring. If the family is dead then he too would want to die. Others would seek revenge. Revenge was also easy. As the front neared, the Jews were forced to move inland, led by the SS towards Germany. Many died on this journey, this was probably the most memorable. The Jews were sent to inner concentration camps like Buchewald and prisoners waited for liberation. By this point, most Jews were half-dead, death itself made itself a common sight. Out of the 6 million killed, 200,000 were liberated in 1945.

The most successful revolt was at Sobibor. The Jews devised a plan to isolate the camp and break through the main gate after stealing some firearms. SS were assassinated beforehand also. 300 escaped but over 100 recaptured and slain.

11 million were killed in the holocaust, 6 million Jews. the other 5 million were inferiors to the Aryan race.

Many Jews escaped deportation to death camps with fake id's.

Russian war prisoners were also sent to death camps, for some were Jewish.

So what now? Well, if you are interested, you can check out me and my blog, so you can find out more about this topic and I.

5 Things You May Want to Know About Online CPR Certification Courses

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is a part of a first aid procedure which is administered in an emergency situation to restore a person's breathing and blood circulation and thus prevent any permanent damage to the brain and other organs of the body. This life-saving procedure can help to stabilize the victim's condition with the help of compression or artificial respiration or both till more advanced medical assistance is available. There are a number of in-class and online certification courses available which can be taken to learn CPR.

Since selecting an online CPR certification course can become fairly tricky, the following points will guide you through the process and also tell you how to avoid the potential pitfalls.

• The Online Advantage: Let's begin with the advantages of an online CPR course of which there are quite a few. Online courses allow you to study the material in the manner that suits you the most wherein you can learn the material for any duration of time throughout the day as per your own convenience. Also the training modules have many illustrative videos that ensure better grasping of the correct procedures involved.

• Practical Module Requirement: Keep in mind that CPR is a procedure that requires proper understanding of the situation and administering the correct technique to be really helpful. Thus an ideal online course must have a practical module where after studying the theory section you can make an appointment with the designated instructor for learning hands-on technique for giving CPR. You can practice your technique on a mannequin till you feel sufficiently confident about your skill.

• Take the Test: After you have finished learning the theory as well as the practical sections of the CPR course you will have to appear for a theory exam, and in most cases the final exam will be in front of your instructor. If you pass the examination you will receive your CPR certification and card.

• Online Only: There are a number of CPR courses that are entirely online that will try to impress you with elaborate printed material and a number of accessories for audio and video assistance and even mannequins to practice on. However the certificates awarded through such courses may not be recognized by any reputed body. Such exclusively online courses may either fraudulent or are in fact first aid courses without any specific focus on CPR. Such courses should be avoided as they won't even get you enrolled for any professional course that requires CPR certification.

• Verify the Course: You must ensure that your chosen CPR course and the body offering it are recognized by organizations like American Health Association or American Red Cross. Also remember that all courses are not equal in the eyes of the employers so you must ascertain the specific requirement of your field before selecting the course.

Always bear in mind that a useful CPR certification course must have both theory and practical modules. And finally note that there is no lifetime certification and all legitimate courses will require re-certification after a period of 1 to 2 years.
